So, you want tile installed! Here are some things you need to expect before you begin.

Floor Cracks Need crack suppression to avoid those hairline cracks you sometime see in floors. Only what can be seen can be avoided.
Uneven Floor Dips, Pits, Humps and Bumps. Sometimes they are minor, sometimes they are major. Floor preparation is the key to a beautiful floor. It makes a world of difference - don't bypass this one.
Dishwasher It is always best if have your tile installed under the dishwasher. But it depends on the thickness of the tile, or if you need a subfloor. Not a problem if it is new construction.
Glass Doors Is it lower than the existing floor? Subfloors, tile thickness and major Floor preparation can sometimes cause this problem. Not always. I've seen quite alot that is already too low. In that case it will require a finished edge so the tile against the door won't remain raw. Talk to your local dealer.
Wood Floor To install tile over wood floors you will need the floor thickness to be 1.5 inches thick. Plywood, Concrete Bard or Backer Board can be used. That is if you don't have the required thickness.
Proper Pitch If, outdoors when it rains or you hose down, the water needs to run away from the building without puddling. If your patio has no pitch it will need extra work (floor preparation).
Sun Decks Waterproofing is necessary if the deck is located directly above the interior of your home.

All of the above and more may play a part on what you expect to pay for tile installation and the actual cost. Find out what you are paying for, with no billing surprise! Take no shortcuts and you will be a happy customer.
